Experimental ARCHolage
2009
Site Specific Installation
Kiosko Galleria, Santa Cruz, Bolivia

Experimental ARCHolage (Santa Cruz) was a sculptural environment created in 2009 during a month long residency at Kiosko Galleria in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. For this project the built landscape of the region was explored and documented, with informal architectural structures and construction methods given specific attention. The recorded visual information was then translated into a village of vernacular forms, materials, and sounds. The work playfully extracted familiar forms from the everyday Santa Cruz landscape including street carts, temporary structures, urban and rural dwellings and agrarian constructions, and reorganized them for the installation. The Experimental ARCHOlage series consists of reflective assemblages that explore cultural aspects of structure and space, and through thier construction allude to potential political, social, and cultural realities that are pertinent to contemporary dialogue.
